The Diploma in TMJ Therapy® is comprised of a series
of theory and practical modules delivered online via your own private members area

3 foundational online modules, plus 6 online modules of online blended learning

This course will give you a range of skills to combat this common and debilitating condition, build your confidence and grow your practice. 

TMJ1 Online  Clinical Massage for TMJ Theory and Practical Modules
TMJ2 Online Advanced Myofascial Bodywork for TMJ Theory and Practical Modules
TMJ3 Theory and Practical Modules A full body approach, working with the deep front line, balancing the pelvis, releasing the feet.

You are required to have completed TMJ1 before embarking on TM2.

TMJ1 Techniques and learning outcomes: 

Signs and symptoms
Anatomy and physiology of the TMJ
Understanding fascia
Principles of trigger point therapy
Trigger point pain patterns
Introduction to Pterygoids and disc displacement
Standardised intake form assessment and record keeping
Treatment planning
Client care
Health and safety/cross infection control/contra-indications to treatment/Body mechanics
Body mechanics
Clinical and palpation assessment for masseter, temporalis, medial and lateral pterygoid Full treatment protocol to include:

Soft tissue and Fascial release techniques
Trigger point work
Passive/PNF/fascial stretches.
Assessing fhe cranial rhythm
A CPD certificate will be sent by email to all students following completion of the workshop.

Pre-requisite TMJ1.
TMJ2 enhances understanding and takes the skills from TMJ1 to an advanced level incorporating a range of myofascial bodywork techniques.

Clinical assessment techniques including moving postural assessment and client movement education
Cranial nerves
Cranial and facial anatomy
Theory of cranio-sacral therapy, assessing the CSR.
Jaw and bite relationships and classification
Dental terminology
Biotensegrity and the TMJ/hyoid/Pelvis connection/the deep front line
Health and safety cross infection control, contra-indications to treatment Vertebral artery insufficiency test
Evaluation of fascial mobility
Advanced Myofascial techniques for muscles of mastication and soft tissues of the face and jaw including:
masseter, temporalis, medial pterygoid, lateral pterygoid, anterior and posterior digastric, hyoids, floor of mouth work
Cranial techniques to evaluate and balance cranial and facial bones including sphenoid, maxilla, mandible, zygomatic, temporal, hyoid
Intra oral scar treatment, unwinding the mucosa, unwinding teeth/periodontal ligament Unwinding the fascial diaphragms
Standing assessment for hip height/leg length discrepancy and SI joint issues. Techniques for rebalancing the Pelvis passive/PNF/Fascial stretches
A CPD certificate will be sent by email to all participants following completion of the course
Case study preparation and tutorial: 6 case studies of 3×2 hour treatments to include assessment, treating and record keeping


TMJ3 Online
Pre-requisite TMJ1 and TMJ2

All techniques from TMJ1 and TMJ2 PLUS Biotensegrity, full body approach, postural assessment, balancing the pelvis, working the feet, the TMJ/pelvis connection refine knowledge and techniques, consolidate information and learning.
Guidance will be given prior to attendance for online exams assessments and plan for the day
Assessment day
Total of 3 hours tutorial, preparation and review for assessment: Treating TMJ clients in a clinical setting.
Practical assessment:
Full consultation in a clinical setting to assess use of intake form, medical history and standing/moving/postural/palpation assessment and recording of findings.
Full treatment using appropriate techniques for the client lasting 1 hour Post treatment assessment, aftercare and review.

Total 3 hours including oral assessment.
Written paper
2.5 hours written assessment to include:
Section A
Multiple choice questions, short answer questions to assess knowledge and understanding across all areas of learning
Section B
Extended answer questions. These challenge learners in a practical and technical context. Case studies, scenarios and client examples may be used to provide the basis for the objective assessment of applied knowledge and understanding.
Photographs and diagrams may be used to bring the examination to life.
